    Invisalign - Adult Orthodontics - Clear Braces June 27, 2008, 7:32 p.m.

StarBrite Dental - A Premier Invisalign Orthodontics Provider

    What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces

Invisalign® uses a series of clear removable aligners (pictured to the left) to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets.

Invisalign® has been proven effective in clinical research and in orthodontic practices nationwide. Dr. Munira Lokhandwala is certified to treat patients with Invisalign® and has completed many cases with very successful, aesthetically pleasing and predictable outcomes.

    How Does Invisalign® Work?

You wear each set of aligners (these are made in consultation with the dentist by the maker of Invisalign) for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Depending on the extent of teeth and bite adjustment required upto 12 retainers may be provided for the entire    course of treatment.

As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position your orthodontist or dentist has prescribed.

You'll visit us about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

Would My Insurance Cover the Cost of Invisalign

Invisalign treatment cost may be covered by your dental insurance. Many dental plans cover "adult orthodontics" up to a limited amount as a lifetime benefit. If your dental plan covers adult orthodontics we can preauthorize the treatment to reduce the "out-of-pocket" cost of Invisalgn to you.

Call us at 510-795-7786 with your insurance information for us to find out.

Why Choose Dr. Munira and StarBrite Dental for your Invisalign Treatment ?

Straightening the smile using Invisalign is easy, painless and especially suited to adults who do not want to wear traditional unsightly braces. Call us at 510-795-7786 to make an appointment for a free Invisalign consultation, or send an appointment request. We offer FREE Teeth Whitening with all completed Invisalign cases.

Dr. Lokhandwala has received advanced certification for Invisalign orthodontics and is one of the few general dentists (less than 4.5% ) that are certified for Invisalign in the United States.

    Conscious Sedation - No Dental Anxiety Anymore Jan. 19, 2008, 12:19 p.m.

Once you've experienced sedation dentistry, you'll probably never be afraid to go to the dentist again.

You'll be sedated just enough to be unaware of the treatment, as if you were snoozing. You'll will remain conscious and follow the instructions of the Doctor and end the procedure refreshed, but with little or no memory of what dental work was accomplished. Because you are completely comfortable but completely free of anxieties, we can do years of dental treatments in one or two visits. We can replace crowns or dentures, restore sore gums to good health, whiten yellow or stained teeth, fix a chipped tooth, place dental implants and more.

Imagine being able to smile with confidence and chew your food without pain. No wonder so many patients say: "Sedation dentistry changed my life." Click here to see what patient's say about Dr. Munira.

How Does Oral Conscious Sedation Work?

You are given a small pill to take an hour prior to your dental appointment. Your companion will accompany you to the office. By the time you arrive, you will be drowsy.

When you arrive in our office, you will be escorted into the comfort room, covered with a thick, warm blanket and placed on a monitor to watch your vital signs. After you are comfortable, Dr. Lokhandwala and the great clinical team at StarBrite Dental will take care of your dental needs.

When your treatment is completed, your companion will return you home to finish your comfortable, relaxing day.

Different levels of Sedation or Sleep Dentistry allow the dentist to perform multiple treatments and procedures that might normally require more frequent visits due to fear. Anxious or even phobic patients often discover that sedation dentistry can offer the perfect solution for maintaining good dental health while being in a totally relaxed state or sleep-like state.

If you are looking for a sedation dentist in Fremont, Hayward, Newark or the surrounding areas, please call us at 510-795-7786 to make an appointment. Our office is located in the East Bay in Fremont, CA. Take advantage of this great way to get your dental work done in comfort.

It Really Works! You really can snooze through your dental appointment.

It Is Safe! You take a small pill prior to treatment, no intravenous tubes or needles. You will have little or no memory of the experience. You probably won't remember any sounds or smells.

You will snooze for up to five to six hours after taking the pill. The time you are snoozing will vary depending on your needed treatment.

Complex dental treatments that often require six to eight appointments, can be done in as little as one! All while you snooze.

People who have difficulty getting numb will find that snooze dentistry eliminates this problem.

Sedation dentistry is a safe way to reduce the fatigue of extended dental treatment requiring long visits.

    Lumineers - The Easy Way to A Fabulous Smile Jan. 19, 2008, 11:51 a.m.

"I came into consult with Dr. Munira after I was shocked by another cosmetic dentist for what it would cost to get my smile reworked. Being in a high profile sales job, I was looking to get a great smile with uniform white teeth. I also had several old crowns and bridges made outside the US. Dr. Munira's conservative advise was to retain those well-made restorations, place Lumineers on the old work and on the front teeth in order to enhance the overall smile. It took only three visits and I can say that I am extremely happy with the results. Besides saving me money, her attention to detail , excellent communication and the use of cutting edge equipment makes Dr. Munira a great dentist.

    Dental Implants - FAQ''s, Costs and Options July 11, 2006, 11:55 a.m.

    What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium fixture that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. The implant is placed in the upper or lower jaw. It will bond with the bone over time and thus serve as an anchor for the replacement tooth. Dental implants can be used to replace a single lost tooth or many missing teeth.

To see how implants are used to treat missing teeth click on the followng links:

    1. Missing one tooth

    2. Missing several adjacent teeth

    3. Missing all teeth on the upper or lower jaw

    4. Mini-implants for Denture Stabilization

    Are dental implants successful?
With more than three decades of clinical experience and over a million patients treated, crowns and bridges supported by Nobel Biocare implants are highly successful. Statistics from our preferred Impant manufacturer (Nobel Biocare) confirm a success rate of nearly 95 percent for individual implants* – even higher for the bridges they support. Dental implants placed in their first patient 35 years ago are still functioning today.
    * Results based on implants and bridges remaining and in function over a five-year period.
    How much do implants cost?

The fee for tooth replacement with dental implants will depend on several factors, including the number of teeth being replaced and the number of implants required to support your replacement teeth. The are some extra costs if additional procedures are required prior to the placement of your dental implants to ensure the long-term health of your dental implants. Typically, there is a fee for the surgical procedure and a separate fee for attaching the posts and constructing your replacement teeth. To obtain a specific fee estimate, it is necessary to have a doctor examine your specific case and needs. After a thorough diagnostic examination, your dentist will recommend the treatment that is best for you. Typically, single implants cost more. If multiple implants are placed at the same time, the per implant cost will reduce substantially. Click here for more information on the Cost of Dental Implants.

StarBrite Dental offers a FREE Implant consultation. To schedule an appointment call us at 510-795-7786.

Why choose StarBrite Dental and Dr Munira Lokhandwala ?
Dr Lokhandwala is certified in placing dental implants and has acquired training and experience under well- known experts from all over the world. Our preferred implant supplier, NobelBiocare, has been the innovative leader in the dental industry for 50 years. Their solutions and products are at the very forefront, providing efficient treatment procedures, excellent function and high esthetic outcome.
Will dental implants work for me?
Anyone who is missing one or more teeth due to injury, disease or decay may be a candidate for dental implants. The main limitation is the amount of available bone. Your dentist is the best person to evaluate whether dental implants are a viable solution for you. If an adequate quantity of bone is not available at the implant site, a bone graft may be necessary.
    Is old age a problem?
Occasionally, older patients express concern that their age may prevent them from enjoying the benefits of dental implants. However, health is more of a determining factor than age. If you're healthy enough to have a tooth extracted, you're probably healthy enough to receive dental implants. Certain chronic diseases may contraindicate implant treatment. Your dentist will determine if you are a candidate for dental implants after a careful evaluation of your dental and health history.
What are the advantages of dental implants over dentures or a bridge?
    · Improved appearance: When you lose entire tooth – crown and root – shrinkage of the jawbone may cause your face to look older. Dental implants can stop this process. A traditional denture or bridge doesn’t.
    · Maintained natural teeth: With traditional practices, two teeth adjacent to a missing tooth must be ground down to anchor a bridge. Dental implants often eliminate the need to modify healthy teeth.
    · Permanent solution: There are no loose parts to worry about. The implant is stable and comfortable. No adjustment is need after installation. Normally, it will serve its owner for life.
How will dental implants affect my life?
Implant-supported replacement teeth look, feel and function like natural teeth. This means that you can eat and drink whatever you are used to. You can continue smoking as well, if you must. But most importantly, dental implants often improve quality of life in a very concrete way. People who have felt embarrassed and worried because of their tooth problems are often overwhelmed by what new permanent teeth can do for their self-esteem.
Will my new teeth look natural?
When dental implants are used in combination with modern restorative dentistry, their appearance, comfort and function are very likely to exceed your expectations. Your new teeth will virtually indistinguishable from your original teeth.
Will I be able to chew with the same force and pressure I use with my natural teeth?
Yes. Following a brief adaptation period during which you mouth and jaw get used to the new tooth which was earlier either missing or decayed, the chewing capacity is comparable to that of natural teeth.
    Is the treatment painful?
Just as with any surgery, there can be some discomfort. Anesthesia and patient sedation are used to eliminate any discomfort at the time of the procedure. Most patients report that they were much more comfortable following the procedure than they had ever anticipated. We would prescribe medications to ease any discomfort if it may occur. We can also recommend another patient who has already had tooth replacement therapy to assess their personal experience.
How much time is required for an implant placement?

Traditionally, the procedure has been performed in two steps. The dentist began by installing the implant, which was left for from three to six months to heal and integrate with the jawbone. During the healing period, the patient was given a temporary prosthesis until the permanent crown could be put in place.

Today, there is an alternative to the two-step method that allows you to have the implant installed in one whole piece in one single session. This new method has simplified the procedure a lot, both for patients and dentists.

The procedure is chosen depends on several factors, such as the patient’s dental health, the number of teeth involved and which teeth are replaced. These factors will also determine the total number of visits to the dentist throughout the treatment period.

How will I feel after the treatment?
It is normal to have some small bruises and swelling in the gum and soft tissues. But usually the discomfort, if any, is treated with an ordinary painkiller. You should expect to be able to work the next day.
How will I care for my implants?
Your new teeth must be cared for and checked regularly, just like your natural teeth. Brush and floss as recommended by your dentist or dental hygienist. See your dentist every sixth months, or more frequently if so advised.

I had a front tooth broken off at the gum line and had an implant done by Dr. Lokhandwala. I was very impressed with her knowledge and professionalism regarding implants. I was worried that the end result would not satisfy me. I couldn't have been more pleased. I would recommend Dr. Lokhandwala to anyone looking for a new Dentist or a change from your existing dentist who is not treating you correctly! Jim Patillo Logistics Engineering and Design Inc. The whole team is outstanding. I have been going there for the past 14 months. I had several procedures done over the span of those 14 months ranging from cleaning to bone grafting, tooth extraction and implants. During all those visits, I found the whole team very compassionate. Their goal was to make me feel better. I strongly believe that it is not just one person who makes the experience good or bad, it is always the teams that can make it happen. And Dr. Munira's team certainly made me feel extremely comfortable. They were very flexible towards adjusting appointments, extremely personable, very passionate and knowledgeable about their work. All the doctors were not only good doctors but very good teachers as well. They explained the whole process in a detailed manner with pros and cons. They made an otherwise expensive process very affordable. All in all, my experience was fantastic. They gave me my smile back; the least they deserve is appreciation and due credit. I strongly recommend this place.

On the day on my first visit, my impression of the office was very clean, welcoming and friendly. Dr. Lokhandwala explained to me what and how she was going to treat my teeth. I chose fast braces - 6 months braces. After signing the agreement with the office my treatment started, and let me tell you, every visit was worth my time and I never did felt like I was being rushed out the office even though they look extremely busy some days. I like it how I can call or email the office and I get an answer right away. Dr. Lokhandwala and staff are very persistent and pleasant. I am writing this review because today was the day I got my braces off. It was a quick treatment and the money spent was money-well-spent. The travel was a little far from me because I stay in Oakland but like I said, it was worth it. My outcome of the treatment was excellent, she not only treated my teeth but she, well... untraumatized me, haha. Again, I would highly recommend for anyone who needs a dentist or dental treatment to go to Dr. Lokhandwala. She is an awesome dentist and her staffs are really KOOL ... =) Excellent service. Excellent staff and Dr. Lokhandwala does brilliant work. I love you guys =) Thank you!!!
